Patient Care Tech - Oncology, Nights
About The Position
The Oncology unit at Piedmont Athens Regional is home to medical oncology, surgical oncology, comfort care, and inpatient hospice patients. The unit is CoC accredited, offering multiple education opportunities for the team to provide informed, oncology-centered care. Nurses on this unit are or become chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certified through ONS and are proud to administer and educate patients and their support systems about these medications. The team strives to provide compassionate, high-quality care from admission to discharge. The Oncology unit provides nursing care utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The role functions within the framework of the organization's policies and procedures and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- No experience required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of patient care experience
- CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
- Certification from a Patient Care Technician program
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.
- Patient ratios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of patient needs. Extenuating circumstances may determine a need for lower or higher ratios.
