The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves monitoring patients' conditions, providing updates to the healthcare team, and ensuring patient comfort, hygiene, and safety needs are met in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked environment, managing supplies, and contributing to a positive patient experience by adhering to safety goals and reporting any patient concerns. Key duties include obtaining and recording patient information such as vital signs, intake and output, and assisting with specimen collection. The position requires attendance at mandatory in-services and trainings, adherence to patient safety initiatives, and maintaining courteous and effective communication with patients, visitors, and colleagues. The role also involves providing equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
