About The Position

The Patient Care Tech II plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients within a healthcare setting. This position involves assisting nursing staff by providing direct patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The role requires effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support treatment plans and promote positive health outcomes. The Patient Care Tech II is responsible for accurately documenting patient information and reporting any changes in condition to the nursing staff promptly. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of patient care services, enhancing the patient experience and supporting clinical operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Patient Care Technician training program or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proven experience in a healthcare setting providing direct patient care.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Experience working in acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings.
  • Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician credentials.
  • Strong familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in patient communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding as needed.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and report any abnormalities to nursing staff.
  • Support patient mobility by assisting with ambulation, repositioning, and transfers to prevent complications such as pressure ulcers.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide emotional support and respond to their needs and concerns.
  • Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to implement patient care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic health records or paper charts.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, ensuring timely assistance and attention.
