About The Position

The Patient Care Technician handles various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. Helps deliver patient care and meet family needs. Follows the care plan, considering the patient's age and development stage. This role requires full-time hours, working three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends, and flexibility in availability. A minimum of one full week of training is also required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Compassion for patients.
• Clear communication with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing.
• Positive attitude.
• Ability to work with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
• Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.
• Provides personal hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.
• Adheres to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
• Performs glucose monitoring and collects specimens as requested.
• Directly supports multiple patients during each shift.
• Tracks and reports quality data for the unit.
• Completes and maintains files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assigns phones and location devices to appropriate staff members.
• Maintains inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies and equipment in the work area.
• Greets visitors and provides assistance.
• Answers telephones and communicates with the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, and cell phones, based on department needs.
