About The Position
Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown is seeking a Patient Care Tech Float for their Float Pool department. This is a PRN position with a day shift schedule. The role involves obtaining and recording vital signs, monitoring and documenting fluid intake and output, performing blood draws, and providing direct patient care including rounding and assisting with activities of daily living.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Nice To Haves
- Nurse Aide preferred.
- 12+ months of direct care experience as a Patient Care Technician in a hospital setting
Responsibilities
- Obtains and records vital signs, accurately charting patient data and promptly reporting abnormal findings.
- Monitors and documents fluid intake and output, supporting safe patient care and clinical decision-making.
- Performs blood draws as trained, following proper phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols.
- Provides direct patient care, including rounding with patients and assisting with activities of daily living to support comfort and mobility.
