About The Position

This role is for a Patient Care Tech in the Emergency Department at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee in Mequon, WI. The position is PRN. The Patient Care Tech will deliver essential, high-quality direct patient care, assisting with personal needs and activities of daily living to promote patient comfort, dignity, and independence. They will document the patient care journey, accurately recording vital signs, input/output, and interventions. Communication of critical changes in a patient’s physical or emotional status to nursing staff is essential. The role also involves supporting patient safety and mobility by assisting with patient movement, placement, and transport, and maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly patient environment, ensuring supplies are stocked and medical equipment is ready.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Nurse Aide credentialed from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant credentialed from the state of Wisconsin, and in Nurse Aide Registry with eligibility to work in a hospital setting obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver essential, high-quality direct patient care, assisting with personal needs and activities of daily living to promote patient comfort, dignity, and independence.
  • Document the patient care journey, accurately recording vital signs, input/output, and interventions to maintain high-quality records and support the multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate critical changes in a patient’s physical or emotional status to the nursing staff immediately to ensure timely, informed clinical intervention.
  • Support patient safety and mobility by skillfully assisting with patient movement, placement, and transport for various exams and treatments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly patient environment, ensuring supplies are stocked and all essential medical equipment is in immediate readiness.
