The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit, monitoring their conditions, and updating the healthcare team. The technician will provide direct and indirect care to patients, ensuring their comfort, personal hygiene, and safety needs are met in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care and VCUHS policies. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment, managing supplies, and contributing to a positive patient experience by identifying patients accurately, observing safety goals, and reporting any changes or incidents. The role also involves obtaining and recording patient information, assisting with specimen collection, attending mandatory training, and ensuring patient safety through participation in initiatives. Establishing and maintaining courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, and colleagues is essential. The position also includes performing other duties as assigned.
