About The Position

Overlake Medical Center and Clinics is seeking a Patient Care Technician (CNA)/Nurse Technician for their Medical Unit, West 4, a 40-bed unit caring for a diverse population of medical and overflow psychiatric patients. This unit offers growth opportunities in critical care areas. The role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program or equivalent documented nursing training required.
• Nursing Assistant-Certified (NA-C) required.
• Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) also required (Overlake Hospital will sponsor this licensure).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification required.
• High school graduate and completion of at least one clinical quarter of documented nursing training required (for Nurse Technician).
• Registered with the Washington State Nursing Commission as a Nursing Technician is required (for Nurse Technician).
• Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language.

Nice To Haves

• One year recent experience in a health care setting involving patient contact is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and EKG preferred.
• Computer familiarity is preferred.
• Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment, record keeping preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for a diverse population of medical and overflow psychiatric patients.
• Provide direct patient care to patients and their families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Handle hospital equipment and perform record keeping.
• Follow the scope of practice as defined in WAC’s and facility standards.
• Maintain requirements to qualify for employment as a Nurse Technician (NT).
• Provide documented evidence of current enrollment and satisfactory completion of required clinical quarters in a nursing education program approved by the state board of nursing.
• Provide written documentation of current level of education preparation and knowledge/skills.
• Remain in good standing with nursing program and provide proof at the end of every term.
• Maintain Registered Nurse Technician (NT) status with the Washington State Nursing Commission.
• Maintain BLS Health Care Provider CPR Certification.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrate computer familiarity.
• Demonstrate knowledge and handling of hospital equipment and record keeping.
• Read, write, and speak the English language.
• Exposure to and contact with soaps, sterilants, body substances.
