The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator. This role is part of a Medical Surgical unit that specializes in caring for a variety of both medical and surgical patients, including those with diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiac-tele monitored, infectious, kidney, and liver diseases. Surgical care for hip and knee replacements, general surgeries such as bowel resections, new ostomies, bladder, and plastics are also provided.
