About The Position

Marymount Hospital is an acute care, faith-based hospital serving Garfield Heights and the Southeast communities of Cuyahoga County. Its 4 East/4 West Medical-Surgical and Telemetry Unit is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant for its multidisciplinary caregiver team. 4 East is a 13-bed unit caring for patients with an oncology history and hematology disorders, while 4 West is a 15-bed unit focused on peritoneal dialysis diagnosis and treatment. The PCNA provides or assists with basic direct patient care under the supervision of an RN. The position works nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within the new-hire period.
• Nursing students must have BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross before hire.
• Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at a minimum junior-high level, as scored on the employment assessment.
• Nursing students who have recently completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute that rotation for the required experience.

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including vital signs, weights, personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers and transport, pulse oximetry, point-of-care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and inserting or removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
