Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) – Oncology & Women’s Health

Fairview Hospital’s Parkview I Oncology and Women’s Health nursing unit focuses on Oncology, emphasizes women's health and surgery, and provides comprehensive care and caring services for adults who have medical and surgical diagnoses. As a PCNA on this team, you will provide or assist with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working nights between 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with weekend requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
- Nursing students: completed one clinical rotation from a nursing school are required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
- Proficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at minimum junior high level as scored on the employment assessment
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting/removing urinary Foley catheters.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
