Marymount Hospital’s 2 East is a med/surg unit that provides general medical care and pre-/post-operative care to patients requiring orthopaedic surgical interventions such as hip and knee replacements and fractures. 2 South also provides general medical care and pre-/post-operative care to patients requiring various surgical procedures, such as hysterectomy, TURPs, thyroidectomy, cholecystectomy and debridements. 2 East and 2 South both specialize in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, wound VACs and endocrinology disorders. Our multi-disciplinary team includes registered nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacy support and case management. Each team member has a critical role in helping our patients achieve full recovery and we provide each patient with individual attention. Throughout their stay, patients are educated, encouraged and inspired to become an active part of their medical-surgical care – aiming for a full recovery with the best outcomes possible. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), your primary duties will include providing or assisting with basic patient care under the supervision of an RN, reporting abnormal findings and changes in patients’ condition and keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly. This is an excellent opportunity to receive hands-on experience while providing exceptional care to our patients, ensuring the best health outcomes. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or must obtain during your new hire period
Nursing students: required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire
Proficient in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level

Nice To Haves

State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
