Fairview Hospital’s 5 Pavilion Complex Medical Care and Telemetry unit has a dedicated team of caregivers that provide top-quality inpatient acute care to adults recovering from a wide variety of conditions, such as pneumonia, heart failure and chest pain, as well as monitor pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients. This unit prides themselves on teamwork and has been nominated for the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Team Excellence Award several times and won the award in 2015. As a PCNA on this team, you will provide or assist with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working nights between 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
  • Nursing students: who have completed one clinical rotation from a nursing school are required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
  • Proficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at minimum junior high level as scored on the employment assessment

Nice To Haves

  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
  • Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience.
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting/removing urinary Foley catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
