The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) provides compassionate, hands-on patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), supporting a safe and healing environment through skills validated by training and competency assessments. J72 is a busy 24-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in the care of medical cardiology and heart failure patients, offering a collaborative, fast-paced setting dedicated to exceptional patient-centered care.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
- Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
Nice To Haves
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
- Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
