The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute cares for patients with a variety of heart, vascular and thoracic diseases and provides the highest level of patient care, innovative treatments and a welcoming environment to all. The primary focus of Cleveland Clinic's J8-3 Cardiac VIP Unit, also known as the "1921 Suites,” is the exceptional care of Medical/Surgical and Cardiology Step-down patients, including but not limited to: Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Vascular, Orthopedic, Urology, Colorectal and Spine surgeries. In addition to Coronary and Electrophysiological interventions. The care on this 17-bed unit is given in a state-of-the-art therapeutic environment by staff specifically trained in all of the clinical care areas, as well as the service of high amenity patients. A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am – 7:30pm.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Nice To Haves

  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
