About The Position

UW Medicine - Bone and Joint Center at Roosevelt has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Care Coordinator. This role involves coordinating pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments. The Patient Care Coordinator acts as a liaison between patients, physicians, and outside agencies to facilitate appointments, admissions, and surgeries. They are responsible for obtaining necessary medical records and diagnostic studies, and collaborating with the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field, AND two (2) years experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with a variety of medical services, contact with patients and families, interaction with physicians, and proficiency in medical terminology; OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification

Responsibilities

  • Uses ability to triage medical information in the Bone & Joint department within Surgical Specialties to a variety of Health Care Professionals using effective oral and written communication
  • Works independently under the general direction of a physician or their designee
  • Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments
  • Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
  • Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic.
  • Requests interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery.
  • Collaborate with all members of the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
