About The Position

This role serves as a liaison between surgeons and patients, managing the patient's care plan from the exam room to post-operative follow-up. The coordinator interprets care plans, enters orders, educates patients, and handles various administrative and clinical tasks. It's a full-time position with office hours Monday through Friday, offering ownership of patient care and a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • LPN or RN license.
  • Current NE nursing license (Required).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at time.
  • Must be physically present to perform job duties.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Orthopedics or Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret a provider's plan of care and act on it within licensed scope.
  • Enter orders for imaging, injections, consults, referrals, and physical therapy.
  • Fill and refill prescriptions, checking PDMP and following DEA recordkeeping standards.
  • Complete surgery booking sheets and conduct Nurse Reviews with patients.
  • Coordinate clearance for holding blood thinners ahead of pre-certification and approval.
  • Educate patients on their care plan and confirm understanding.
  • Review discharge summaries with patients and answer their questions.
  • Prepare charts for upcoming clinics.
  • Relay test results and complete post-op calls within 2-3 weeks of surgery.
  • Handle medication prior authorizations.
  • Manage incoming mail, refill requests, and outside orders from therapy offices.
  • Keep task lists and providers' open orders on track.
  • Answer phones, triage calls, and protect patient privacy.
