Patient Care Associate -Telemetry-FT- Nights -MHP
About The Position
Under the supervision of an RN, the Patient Care Associate performs basic patient care and related technical and clinical support activities. The position is based in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and is assigned to a telemetry unit on the night shift. The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Candidates must have three months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care, or certification of completion from a formal training program. EKG and phlebotomy competencies must be completed within six months of hire. No degree or other education is required. A listed BLS credential is required.
Requirements
- Three months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care, or certification of completion from a formal training program.
- A listed BLS credential: American Heart Association BLS E-Card, American Heart Association BLS RQI E-Card, American Heart Association BLS certification, Grace-period BLS certification, or Red Cross BLS certification.
- Complete EKG and phlebotomy competencies within six months of hire.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Help keep patient rooms and areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
- Transport patients as needed.
- Monitor patient status and response, and report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
