Requirements

  • Patient Care Associate (PCA) / Student Nurse / Unit Secretary certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to perform activities of daily living.
  • Ability to measure and document intake and output.
  • Ability to set up and monitor telemetry.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy.
  • Ability to monitor blood glucose.
  • Ability to set up oxygen.
  • Clerical skills including typing and word processing.
  • Ability to transcribe physician orders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Access to confidential patient information.
  • Ability to work under direct and indirect supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality, direct patient care to an assigned group of patients.
  • Measures and documents intake and output.
  • Performs foley removal.
  • Sets up and monitors telemetry.
  • Performs phlebotomy.
  • Monitors blood glucose.
  • Sets up oxygen.
  • Provides clerical support to the care team including typing, word processing, and transcribing physician orders.
  • Acts as a liaison facilitating communication with or between other care providers and visitors directly or via telephone.
  • Works collaboratively with other care team members including the patient and family.
  • Participates collaboratively with RN to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Communicates with all team members regarding care provided to the assigned patient group.
  • Carries out daily activities under the direct supervision of a Patient Care Coordinator / Registered Nurse, RN or Assistant Nurse Manager and indirect supervision of the Nurse Manager or Director.
