Requirements

Patient Care Associate (PCA) / Student Nurse / Unit Secretary certification or equivalent experience.
Experience in a healthcare setting.
Ability to perform activities of daily living.
Ability to measure and document intake and output.
Ability to set up and monitor telemetry.
Ability to perform phlebotomy.
Ability to monitor blood glucose.
Ability to set up oxygen.
Clerical skills including typing and word processing.
Ability to transcribe physician orders.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Access to confidential patient information.
Ability to work under direct and indirect supervision.

Responsibilities

Provides high quality, direct patient care to an assigned group of patients.
Measures and documents intake and output.
Performs foley removal.
Sets up and monitors telemetry.
Performs phlebotomy.
Monitors blood glucose.
Sets up oxygen.
Provides clerical support to the care team including typing, word processing, and transcribing physician orders.
Acts as a liaison facilitating communication with or between other care providers and visitors directly or via telephone.
Works collaboratively with other care team members including the patient and family.
Participates collaboratively with RN to achieve optimal outcomes.
Communicates with all team members regarding care provided to the assigned patient group.
Carries out daily activities under the direct supervision of a Patient Care Coordinator / Registered Nurse, RN or Assistant Nurse Manager and indirect supervision of the Nurse Manager or Director.
