Patient Care Associate -IMCU-FT- Nights-MRH
About The Position
Under the supervision of an RN, the Patient Care Associate performs basic patient care and related technical and clinical support activities. The role is based in Hollywood, Florida, in the IMCU, and works nights. The position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. Candidates need at least three months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care, or completion of a formal training program. EKG and phlebotomy competencies must be completed within six months of hire.
Requirements
- No degree or other education is required.
- Three months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care, or completion of a formal training program.
- BLS certification from an accepted provider or credential pathway listed in the posting: American Heart Association BLS E-Card, American Heart Association BLS RQI E-Card, American Heart Association non-E-Card certification, Grace-period credential, or Red Cross certification.
- EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six months of hire.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
- Transport patients as needed.
- Monitor patient status and response, and report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, measuring blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
- Help keep patient rooms and areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
