Patient Care Associate I (PCA I) - Inpatient Oncology
About The Position
Glens Falls Hospital is looking for students, healthcare workers, and entry level candidates with a background or interest in the healthcare field to join our team as a Patient Care Associate (PCA). If you are an individual who loves caring for and supporting others, this is a perfect position for you! Come grow your skills in healthcare and gain clinical experience working directly with patients! As an Oncology PCA, you'll provide compassionate, patient-centered care for adults throughout every stage of the cancer journey. Caring for patients undergoing diagnostic evaluations, chemotherapy, biotherapy, symptom management, palliative care, and end-of-life care, you'll work alongside RNs and an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based treatment. As part of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, you'll help support patients and their families while practicing within a nationally accredited oncology program.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for caring and supporting others
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (can be earned after hire)

- Medical terminology knowledge
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
- Measure and record patients’ vitals such as temperature and blood pressure
- Responds to patient/family needs and requests
- May assist and support physicians/nurses during routine procedures and treatments
- Report all observations, changes in patient condition to responsible RN for timely, appropriate evaluation and response
- Prepare hospital rooms
- Change patients’ bed sheets, pillows and turning or repositioning patients in their beds
- Deliver meals to patients and assist with feeding
- Help patients dress and/or assist with toileting needs
- Bathe patients
- Listen to patients’ concerns, record them and report them to a nurse
- Patient companion when needed
