Patient Care Associate I (PCA I) - Telemetry
About The Position
Glens Falls Hospital is looking for students, healthcare workers, and entry level candidates with a background or interest in the healthcare field to join our team as a Patient Care Associate (PCA). If you are an individual who loves caring for and supporting others, this is a perfect position for you! Come grow your skills in healthcare and gain clinical experience working directly with patients! In this position, you will be an important member of the patient care team under the direction of a Registered Nurse. As part of the patient care team, the PCA ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers, as well as appropriate utilization of resources. The PCA ensures comfort and the first level of care for patients. The patient care team identifies desired outcomes for each patient based on assessment data, and plan of care and completes ongoing assessments to facilitative achievement of desired outcomes.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED equivalent required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required; can be obtained after hire
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Nice To Haves
- Medical terminology a plus
- Patient care experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
- Measure and record patients’ vitals such as temperature and blood pressure
- Responds to patient/family needs and requests
- May assist and support physicians/nurses during routine procedures and treatments
- Report all observations, changes in patient condition to responsible RN for timely, appropriate evaluation and response
- Prepare hospital rooms
- Change patients’ bed sheets, pillows and turning or repositioning patients in their beds
- Delivers meals to patients and assist with feeding
- Help patients dress and/or assist with toileting needs
- Bathe patients
- Listen to patients’ concerns, record them and report them to a nurse
- Patient companion when needed
