Patient Care Assistant - 4 South Med Surg
About The Position
Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as-needed Patient Care Assistant to work with the team in the 4 South Department. The Patient Care Assistant supports nursing by conducting patient care activities and provides direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under nursing or medical supervision. Duties include cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical duties, and ordering and receiving supplies. The Clinical Observation Unit serves a broad range of ambulatory and non-ambulatory adult patients who meet initial observation criteria. It provides efficient, protocol-based care for patients with well-defined diagnoses or presenting symptoms such as chest pain, COPD, asthma, and congestive heart failure. Candidates must provide documentation of a score of 80% or higher on the Medical Terminology exam.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant degree, West Virginia C.N.A. license, or PCT Certification.
- CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
- Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.
- Documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of experience preferred.
