About The Position

We are currently seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our Sleepy Hollow (located in Falls Church) team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Whether you are exploring nursing, medicine, physician assistant studies, or another healthcare profession, this position provides valuable hands-on experience while working alongside experienced pediatric providers and clinical staff. We are seeking candidates interested in starting during August and/or September. The work schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:15 AM to 12:30 PM. Our commitment is to provide outstanding care to every patient and family we serve. Because patient needs come first, there may be occasions when you are required to remain beyond your scheduled end time to ensure patients receive the care they need.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At this time we are not accepting high school students.
  • Ability to meet Capital Area Pediatrics' immunization and health screening requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a healthcare-related degree program is strongly preferred.
  • Previous patient experience/customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and families while creating a positive, caring experience.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain patient histories, measure vital signs, and accurately document information within the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out, including scheduling appointments and verifying demographic and insurance information as needed.
  • Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipment while following infection prevention and sterilization procedures.
  • Maintain patient records and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Support daily practice operations through administrative projects and other duties as assigned.
