About The Position

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Assistant supports patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and eating. The role also includes measuring patients’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, as well as height, weight, intake, and output. The assistant documents care in the medical record, communicates effectively with patients and families, helps patients with hygiene and mobility, and reports patient health concerns to nurses. This is an onsite, per-diem position at 75 Francis Street with a day shift and 0 scheduled weekly hours.

Requirements

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong patient/customer service skills.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Proficiency with computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) credential preferred.
National certification as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
National certification as a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician preferred.
New Hampshire Licensed Nursing Assistant credential preferred.
0–1 year of experience working in patient care or elder care preferred.

Responsibilities

Measure and document vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output accurately and within established time frames or as requested.
Complete required documentation in the medical record.
Interact effectively with patients and their families.
Assist patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
Help patients turn and reposition in bed and move between a bed and wheelchair as needed.
Listen to patients’ health concerns and report them to nurses.
