About The Position

The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements. The Nursing Resource Pool offers you increased flexibility in your scheduling, while allowing you to float only at the Chelsea hospital. We support our employees with a focused orientation and training about our equipment, processes and procedures. This makes our float pools a reliable resource for our units, which means more manageable patient ratios. For all these reasons and more, Float Pool colleagues are treated as highly valued team members here at Trinity Health Michigan. In the Nursing Resource Pool you could float any of the units listed below: Atrium East (Med/Surg), Atrium and Courtyard Rehab (Inpatient Rehabilitation), Courtyard East (Med/Surg and Head Pain), Emergency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Patient Care experience in a hospital environment required.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
  • Assist patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
  • Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
  • Float to various units within the Chelsea hospital.
