The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works under the direction of licensed personnel to assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating. The PCA also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. This role is crucial in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), which consists of 111 bays caring for post-op patients recovering from anesthesia before they move to an inpatient unit.
