The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) position is located in the Lunder 10 HEMOC unit, which is an integrated thirty-two bed inpatient hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant unit serving a young adult to elderly patient population. Patients are frequently followed from diagnosis or referral through end of life. Many patients have a diagnosis of leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, sarcoma, or multiple myeloma. The PCA works under the direction of licensed personnel, assisting patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They also assist with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
