About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Float Pool is a Per Diem (PRN) opportunity designed for actively enrolled nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience across a variety of hospital units. In this dynamic role, students support patient care while working alongside experienced healthcare professionals, building foundational skills and broad clinical exposure. This flexible position offers a collaborative environment that enhances learning, confidence, and career development in nursing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Current BLS certification

Nice To Haves

• PCA/DCA , SRNA, or EMT Experience preferred but not required
• Handle with Care preferred
• Interest in phlebotomy is a plus, and the facility offers phlebotomy training with an additional pay incentive.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
