About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in supporting these children and adolescents. Working under the supervision of licensed nurses, the PCA provides daily care, emotional support, and structure within a safe, therapeutic environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, patient, and passionate about helping young people heal and grow.

Requirements

  • De-escalation Training – required within 30 days of hire
  • CPR / BLS Certification – required
  • Worked with children or adolescents who have medical or psychiatric needs
  • Commit to 12-hour shifts
  • Flexible to work days, nights, or weekends

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision for pediatric patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, transfers, and grooming.
  • Observe, monitor, and accurately document patients’ behavior, affect, participation, and vital signs.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing environment consistent with trauma-informed care practices.
  • Support therapeutic and educational programming, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized care and behavioral support plans under clinical direction.
  • Respond to patient crises using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques to ensure safety.
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and behavioral specialists to ensure integrated and compassionate care.
