About The Position

Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN or Care Manager. This position is listed as 24 hours per week, with day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., every third weekend, and a holiday rotation.

Requirements

• Complete a fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or have equivalent certification or experience.
• Hold an active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential in Ohio, or have equivalent education or experience.
• Hold current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider).
• Have effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate competence, as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist, in providing age-appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.
• Display a positive presence and interact effectively with patients, families, staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.
• Have one year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification.

Responsibilities

• Collect, document, and report vital signs; complete screening questions, documentation, or minor specimen testing as assigned.
• Promote general patient safety; hold and position patients, assist with procedures, and prepare delegated materials and supplies.
• Comply with HIPAA, maintain professionalism, and protect the confidentiality of patient information.
• Ensure environmental standards are met and unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Perform clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Complete continuing education and participate in offered educational opportunities; may precept and train other staff.
