Banner University Medical Center Tucson is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Unit/ Observation Unit. In our Medical Surgical /Observation Unit our patients typically stay less than 48 hours. Currently, we have a 12 day shift available. We try to run the units with 2 PCAs for each shift. It’s a fun and fast paced environment, where staff have the opportunity to gain experience with a wide variety of both acute and chronic conditions. The main job/responsibility is patient care and safety. Our units have a standard of vital signs every four hours, along with any ordered blood glucose monitoring, toileting/showering/bed baths, and safe ambulation. Ideal candidates are able to problem solve, work as a team with others, are able to ask for help when needed, are able to utilize resources, are willing to learn new skills, and who are confident and professional. All beds have telemetry monitoring ability, along with both Medical Surgical & Progressive Care populations. Our RNs are PCU trained, so our units see all patients from Observation to Med-Surg, up through PCU status. Since we can take those PCU patients, assignments can get kind of heavy, and patients can be very sick. This is a great opportunity for PCA's that want to gain experience in Med/Surg and Observation units with adult and geriatric patient populations.
