About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant supports patient care in a medical-surgical department at Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, Texas. The role assists patients with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs; monitors and reports changes in patient condition; helps nurses with supplies and wound care; and contributes to a clean, safe environment. This is a full-time night-shift position.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance of current certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office is preferred.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within six months of hire and maintained as current according to facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, turning, repositioning, and transfers to help prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
• Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Observe and report changes in a patient's condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
• Help keep the environment clean and safe.
• Assist with transporting patients within the hospital.
