About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN. This includes checking vital signs and blood glucose levels, assisting with grooming activities such as bathing, hair washing and brushing, and changing/cleaning patients with incontinence garments and bedpans. The PCA will also assist patients with mobility (walking, getting out of bed), changing clothing, and eating. Additionally, the role involves transporting patients to other areas of the hospital for testing or procedures. The PCA is expected to demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences, while upholding and promoting patient safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful graduation and certification from accredited patient care assistant program or certified nursing assistant program required
  • Must be BLS certified
  • Knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures and techniques required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
