About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant performs basic supportive care for designated patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. The role collects, documents, and reports patient data. This is a 0.4 position scheduled for 16 hours per week, with two 8-hour weekday shifts and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

Requirements

Completion of a fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience.
Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience.
Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider).
Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated competence, as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist, in providing age-appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.
Positive presence and ability to interact with patients, families, staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.
One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification.

Responsibilities

Collect, document, and report vital signs.
Complete screening questions, documentation, or minor specimen testing as assigned.
Promote general patient safety.
Hold and position patients and assist with procedures.
Prepare materials and supplies as delegated.
Comply with HIPAA, maintain professionalism, and protect the confidentiality of patient information.
Ensure environmental standards are met and unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
Perform clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
Complete continuing education and participate in educational opportunities.
May act as a preceptor and train other staff.
