About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the operating room assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of patient care which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. At a minimum, the PCA carries out designated skills that are within those functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The PCA communicates data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks and/or functions. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Must be able to perform designated skills within the functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

Organizes and cleans central work areas, patient rooms, and patient equipment.
Assists in operating room turnover including cleaning and removing trash.
Inventory management of department supplies as delegated by RN or surgical team.
Retrieval of Blood products from the Blood bank as delegated by the RN.
Retrieval of specimens and transporting to appropriate laboratory area as delegated by the RN.
Retrieval of patient beds and equipment from the designated areas as delegated by the RN.
Demonstrates flexibility to best meet department needs, including floating when necessary.
