About The Position

North Alabama Shoals Hospital is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network. The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in the mission of making communities healthier. This position is on the Rehab Unit and involves providing direct patient care and supporting the nursing and physician staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Current BLS certification, can be obtained after hire

Nice To Haves

• Geriatric experience preferred, particularly from a nursing home or acute care setting.
• PCA/DCA, SRNA, or EMT Experience preferred but not required
• Handle with Care preferred
• Interest in phlebotomy is a plus, and the facility offers phlebotomy training with an additional pay incentive.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
