About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join their Inpatient Medical Surgical Hematology Oncology Unit in Arizona. The PCA will assist nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role requires the incumbent to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and interpret age-specific patient needs. The PCA will communicate patient status and delegated task information. This position involves flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. The unit specializes in Acute Leukemia and Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Medical Oncology, Clinical Trials, and overflow BMT. The role offers opportunities for individualized courses, including Cancer Concepts and Chemotherapy Administration, within a culture of teamwork and patient advocacy.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Nice To Haves

Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year.

Responsibilities
