About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant III is a Full Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm at Sacred Heart Medical Center. This role assists radiologists and technologists to obtain the highest quality studies and maintain efficient workflow in the department. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities with constant interruptions, and be highly organized. Excellent communication, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality are required. Decisions regarding daily work priorities are made based on company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • One year experience in the medical field preferred.
  • Anatomy and medical terminology preferred.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Understanding of ultrasound procedures to be read by radiologist preferred.
  • Experience with Outlook; Kronos; Replicon; Imagecast; Stentor; IDXterm; Flowcast; Allscripts; Web Portals, EPIC and Medicalis is highly desired.
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults.
  • Employees must not be included on the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented; ability to multi-task; organized and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to/from inpatient departments or Emergency Room to/from Inland Imaging department.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and instruct patients in appropriate preparation for exams.
  • Maintain clean, well-stocked exam and dressing rooms.
  • Pull previous studies and reports.
  • Interact with Nursing, Front Office Core, and Reading Room Assistants to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Maintain clean scan room environment.
  • Use required computer programs proficiently.
  • Assist the scheduling department with scheduling patients and call backs.
  • Be knowledgeable of hospital codes and infection status (if applicable).
  • Assist Technologists with patients as needed.
  • Rotate to other shifts and locations as needed.
  • Prepare biopsy trays for procedures.
  • Monitor quality control for processors.
  • Prepare slides and handle biopsy specimens for processing.
  • Assist in placing department orders for their specific work location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete a course in back safety prior to working with patients.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate self-directed learning and participation in continuing education.
  • Consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adhere to departmental standards and personnel policies.
  • Follow company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies and guidelines.
  • Accept and perform other projects and responsibilities.
