About The Position
This is a full-time, night shift position requiring 12-hour shifts at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, mobility, feeding, and monitoring intake/output. Responsibilities also include taking vital signs, observing and reporting patient condition changes, assisting with wound care under RN direction, stocking supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and transporting patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.).
- Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician, preferred.
- Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
- Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown
- Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
- Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses
- Help with wound care under the direction of an RN
- Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms
- Ensure the environment stays clean and safe
- Assist in transporting patients within the hospital
