About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. At a minimum, the PCA carries out designated skills that are within those functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. The PCA communicates data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks and/or functions. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit is a high-acuity team specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic patient care. The unit is staffed based on patient acuity and there are a multitude of resources available 24/7. The department is expanding to a newly designed space with a total of 46 beds. We care for a variety of cardiac patients throughout the course of their disease process, including: Congestive Heart Failure, CV Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Heart Transplant, Pulmonary Hypertension, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), Pulmonary Artery Catheters, Ultrafiltration, Post Cardiac Procedure, Titratable Medications, and Arterial Lines. Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-acuity Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit.
  • Experience with Congestive Heart Failure, CV Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Heart Transplant, Pulmonary Hypertension, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), Pulmonary Artery Catheters, Ultrafiltration, Post Cardiac Procedure, Titratable Medications, and Arterial Lines.
