About The Position

The Patient Care Aide (PCA) maintains a safe environment for patients, the unit, and coworkers. They assist licensed personnel by completing supportive functions to maximize patient outcomes and by providing activities related to the plan of care to improve customer satisfaction and provide optimal outcomes. The PCA will interact directly with patients, providing comfort and transportation, monitoring their vital signs, and assisting with daily living needs. This role is a vital link between patients and nurses and other facility staff. The PCA assists with daily living activities, including delivering meals, turning and ambulating patients, and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals. They also help patients with personal hygiene, provide bedpans, and assist with baths, shampoos, and showers. Additionally, the PCA provides adjunct care such as ice packs, non-sterile dressings, and therapeutic baths, checks vital signs, records daily information in the patient’s chart, and assists nurses and other staff as needed. They adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures, and abide by federal, state, and local requirements, as well as Joint Commission standards.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
BLS
Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

Completion of a state-approved CNA certification training course
