The Patient Assessment Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the Prospective Payment System and quality reporting program for Medicare patients. This position involves overseeing all aspects of data collection for the IRF/PAI, ensuring proper documentation, and educating staff on CMS guidelines. The Coordinator is responsible for the complete, accurate, and timely review of each IRF/PAI form, monitoring the accuracy of functional status scoring and patient care needs reflection, and inputting data into the eRehabData system. This role also coordinates the collection of patient information from medical records and completes assigned sections of the IRF/PAI form. Additionally, the Coordinator sets IRF/PAI completion dates for the multidisciplinary team, develops and interprets policies, and serves as the primary resource for problem-solving related to Medicare's IRF prospective payment system, including FIM scoring, impairment group coding, tiering distribution, coverage and classification criteria, and quality reporting program requirements.
