About The Position

The Patient Ambassador creates a positive first impression of Marin General Hospital and acts as initial point of contact for patients and visitors. The Patient Ambassador works proactively to ensure all visitors’ needs are met. Patient Ambassador is a patient advocate and coordinates any special needs with the appropriate resources.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a Customer Service related position.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAMTAC) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be proficient in the English language, with the ability to communicate effectively by phone
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish as a second language preferred
  • Instinctive personality skills displaying caring and compassion for all people
  • The ability to balance multiple tasks and prioritize demands
  • The ability to respond under stress with composure, and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Strong verbal skills for contact with patients and visitors
  • Capable of organizing multiple tasks and using good time management
  • Demonstrated professional telephone skills
  • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge with the ability to do data entry and retrieval
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong focus on assigned tasks and at all time being a strong team player.
  • Employees in this position have access to protected health information. The protected health information a person in this position can access includes demographics, date of service, insurance/billing, medical record summary information, and all other information that may be contained in patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as initial point of contact for patients and visitors; greeting, badging and assisting, answers routine questions, providing information and responding to inquiries, refers visitors to sources of information.
  • Connects patients and visitors with necessary resources, such as mobility equipment, escort and valet services.
  • Assists with Wayfinding and navigation within Marin General Hospital and its offsite facilities, clinics and partners.
  • Frequent transition between sitting, standing, walking and pushing expected during each shift to assist customers.
  • Pushes and pulls wheelchairs occupied by patients in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
  • Assures that all wheelchairs are maintained in an orderly and sanitary condition; maintains transport equipment, and promptly pulls any unserviceable equipment out of service and delivers it to Engineering for repair, reporting all unsafe conditions to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Acknowledges any patient relations issues and ensures proper follow up.
  • Acknowledges visitors and ensures hospital visitor management policies are adhered to.
  • Liaison to Volunteer team
  • Assist Patient Experience team with administrative and clerical tasks as assigned.
