A patient ambassador enhances the patient experience by providing non-medical support, acting as a liaison, and offering comfort, often bridging gaps between patients, families, and staff. Their roles range from bedside companionship (reading, bringing blankets) to administrative help (restocking supplies, answering calls) and patient feedback gathering, aiming to improve satisfaction and create a more positive, human-centered environment. It is important to note that patient ambassadors do not provide medical care, administer medication, or make diagnoses. The role may involve facilitating services such as Respite Care, which offers temporary relief for a client's caregiver through admission to an in-patient facility or community residential care facility; Personal Care, which assists with activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, and observing health signs; Attendant Care, a client-directed service for personal care assistance; and Companion Services, providing short-term relief for caregivers and supervision of clients. This job is completed in each individual participant's home.
