About The Position

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Director, the Government and Commercial Billing Manager is responsible for managing the billing and follow-up of a variety of account types, including HMO, PPO, Workers’ Compensation, government payers, and self-pay accounts. This role also oversees document scanning and indexing, mail distribution, insurance eligibility verification, secondary billing, and front window coverage as needed. The incumbent reviews, verifies, obtains, and updates patient financial and insurance information to accurately determine financial responsibility for services provided at Washington Hospital. Based on this information, the role ensures all payer requirements, authorizations, and certification criteria are met to maximize timely and accurate reimbursement. Additional responsibilities include submitting insurance claims promptly, reviewing patient accounts to ensure payments and adjustments are processed accurately, monitoring outstanding accounts, processing refunds for overpayments, responding to billing inquiries, and securing payments or payment arrangements from insurance companies and patient guarantors. In addition to the essential functions outlined above, this position may be assigned other duties as needed.

Requirements
