The Patient Access Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NMHC, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to patients, ensuring accurate patient demographic information, and efficiently scheduling appointments. The specialist will also perform medical necessity checks, communicate financial information to patients, and collaborate with various hospital departments and physician offices. Additionally, the role requires utilizing various online systems for order retrieval, insurance verification, and accurate data entry in Epic. The Patient Access Specialist is expected to be proactive in preventing issues, understanding departmental quality metrics, and contributing to process improvements. Cross-training between departments may be required to ensure coverage.
