About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist will greet patients and provide exceptional customer service throughout the registration process. This role involves verifying patient identity, collecting demographic and insurance information, and ensuring accurate account setup. The specialist will also issue patient armbands, coordinate bedside registration when needed, and educate patients on financial responsibilities, benefits, and available resources. Key responsibilities include processing orders, managing work queues, and maintaining accurate, timely account documentation to support billing readiness. Additionally, the role requires obtaining required consents, signatures, and regulatory documentation, safely securing and documenting patient valuables when applicable, and escorting or directing patients to appropriate locations within the facility. Collaboration with clinical and support teams is essential to ensure efficient patient flow.

Requirements

  • Follow all federal, state, and organizational regulations, including HIPAA, EMTALA, and CMS standards
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
  • Adhere to infection prevention protocols and proper use of PPE
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and safety initiatives
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a patient-centered approach
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration
  • 3 years of experience in Patient Access or Business office setting
  • 1 year of knowledge of Epic applications

Responsibilities
