The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate patient registration, coordinating patient account information, and serving as a resource for patients regarding up-front collections. This role involves interviewing patients to gather demographic, clinical, billing, insurance, and financial information, while maintaining compliance with EMTALA and HIPAA regulations. The Specialist will also be trained to work in all areas of Patient Registration and Switchboard operations, and will be responsible for training other Patient Access Associates. Specific objectives include maintaining an annual appraisal score of 2.0 or greater, registering a target number of patients per shift (40 per 8-hour shift for patient registrations, or around 60 for non-patient registrations), and maintaining a weekly error rate of 3% or less.
