The Patient Access Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NMHC, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role involves practicing a patient-first philosophy, maintaining high standards of customer service, and fostering a team atmosphere. The specialist will respond to questions, manage patient confidentiality, provide exceptional customer service to create a positive first impression, and exceed consumer requests. Key duties include collecting patient demographic information, interacting with hospital departments and physician offices for scheduling, reaching out to patients to schedule appointments, performing medical necessity checks, communicating financial account status, and completing out-of-pocket estimations. The role also involves providing training, managing work schedules efficiently, participating in Quality Assurance reviews, using service recovery skills, and adhering to all department policies and compliance requirements. Cross-training between various departments will occur to ensure coverage. The specialist must avoid putting patients at financial or safety risk.
